Selena Gomez reacted to reports that she is now a billionaire.
Earlier in September, the Bloomberg Billionaires Index reported that Selena is currently worth $1.3 billion now — largely due to her majority stake in her Rare Beauty brand, which reportedly accounts for 81.4% of her wealth. It makes Selena one of the youngest self-made billionaires in the US.
Naturally, the news that the multi-hyphenate had reached billionaire status was met with praise — especially from those highlighting Selena’s humble beginnings — and criticism amid growing class inequality.
Speaking to Entertainment Tonight about the title at the premiere of her new film Emilia Pérez, Selena said, “I’m very grateful.”
“I personally think it’s distasteful to talk about money, but I really am giving all the credit to people who buy the products,” she continued.
“They’re the ones that made this dream of mine come true, so I’m really, really honored and just happy,” Selena added, before affirming that she often wears and promotes the products herself.
At least someone doesn’t have to worry about the price of toilet paper!
