“Totally normal way to count,” quipped The Late Show host.
“It reminds me of that classic joke: Why was 10 afraid of seven? Because four, seven, six, five.”
Colbert then turned his attention to Trump’s remarks at a Georgia rally on Tuesday and noted that the GOP nominee made a “strange confession” to his supporters.
“I find it very hard to sleep, I got so many ideas. I’m thinkin’ all the time,” Trump told the crowd.
Colbert broke out his impression of the former president.
“I don’t sleep, I’m always, I’m always, it’s true — I’m always thinkin’ at night on thoughts like — the ravens, why do they shriek outside my window,” he said.
He continued, “Do they laugh at me? Can they see my blackened soul? All the, all the creatures of the night disturb my slumber. The cats, the rats, the bats and worst of all the terrible owl. When I told him, ‘Be gone, for I am Donald Trump,’ he turned to me with that baleful eye and he said, ‘Oooh,’ and I screamed.”
